Jesus came to embrace and empower the poor, the sick, the lame, the outcast, and the lonely. Throughout his entire life and ministry, we see story after story of his connection to, and community with, those who were rejected and marginalized for one reason or another. None of their “otherness” ever seemed to make a difference to Jesus. He simply brought the good news of God’s kingdom to those who most needed to hear it.

Luke Chapter 8:26-39 portrays an incredible story involving Jesus, a demon possessed man, herdsmen and pigs on a hillside, and a fearful community. Come join us this Sunday as we try to visualize that dramatic scene, first with our eyes and ears, but more importantly, with our hearts. If we can, perhaps we will view the outcasts and our community in the light of restoration.
