The Shamed

We’re on a journey with Jesus, learning from him what it looks like to befriend and create belonging in a world filled with judgment, isolation, and fear. This morning, as we continue our journey, we will be looking at what it means to befriend The Shamed.

Guilt says: I did something bad. Shame says I am something bad.

Do you remember the last time you felt shame? Oftentimes, the feeling of shame causes us to do things that only deepen our problem. Most of the time we try to hide our shame. But imagine if the worst thing you’d ever done, your biggest regret was put on blast for all to see. That’s exactly what’s going to happen with our story today in John 8. But let’s pay close attention to how Jesus handles this so we can learn how to do the same.
