What is a Christian?

Ask 10 different people and you’ll probably get 10 different answers. On one end of the spectrum, some would say that a Christian is a person who believes in Jesus Christ, follows his teachings, and desires to become like him. While on the other end of the spectrum, others would say that Christians are judgmental, homophobic moralists who think they’re the only ones going to heaven. And in between the extremes, you can find a wide variety of responses that are both similar and different.

The truth is, the name Christian is attractive to some and repulsive to others. But how did the term become so divisive? How is there so much disagreement about what a Christian is and how are we supposed to know who to trust on the matter?
