What We Believe
As a people of faith, there are things we value and believe…things we give our time, energy and money to. In order for you to gain a perspective on what that is for us, we want to provide you with a brief look at our mission statement, our core values, and our core theological beliefs. We hope this is helpful to you. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 732.542.7373 or via email at
To become fully devoted followers of Christ who create communities of grace that heal and transform lives.
Our Core Values
Everyone matters deeply to God and therefore should matter to the church.
Life change happens best when believers gather together in small groups.
Ministry works most effectively when the right people are in the right places for the right reasons.
Individuals serve most effectively on teams.
All relationships should be marked by truth-telling and love.
Whenever there is a relational breakdown (conflict, problem, dispute, etc.) it must be dealt with directly and resolved immediately.
Believers honor God when they use their time, talents, and treasures to the best of their ability.
Our Core Theological Statements
(Select an "About" field below to find out more information)
We believe that God is the eternal and infinite creator and ruler of the entire universe and that He alone is to be worshipped.
Genesis 1:1; Psalm 90:2,145:13
We believe that God has always existed in 3 personalities – each of which is of the same substance, equal in power and glory.
(Matthew 28:19; II Corinthians 13:13; I Peter 1:2)
We believe that this same God is extremely personal and that He desires to be intimate with His creation because He cares about all humanity and all of our problems.
(Matthew 9:9-13; Luke 19:1-10; Ephesians 2:4-7)
About Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He is co-equal with the Father.
(John 1:1-5, 8:58, 10:30, 14:6-14)
We believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and that He gave Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all humanity by dying on a cross; and that by trusting Him, each person can receive God’s forgiveness and abundant life.
(Matthew 1:23; II Corinthians 5:21; I Peter 2:24)
We believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead after 3 days and that by doing so He demonstrated His power over sin and death.
(Romans 1:4; I Corinthians 15:3-5)
We believe that Jesus Christ has ascended to Heaven’s glory in order to prepare an eternal home for all who trust and serve Him; and that He will one day return again to earth and set up a kingdom where He will reign as King and Lord.
(Acts 1:9-11; I Thessalonians 4:13-18)
About the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God.
(Matthew 28:19; John 15:26; I Corinthians 2:10-11; II Corinthians 13:14)
We believe that the Spirit is present in the world to make people aware of their need for a relationship with Jesus Christ.
We believe that He lives in the life of every Christian believer from the moment of salvation and that He is our abiding helper, teacher, and guide, enabling and empowering each Christian believer to live abundantly and successfully.
(I Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Galatians 5:22-23)
We believe in the present ministry of the Spirit, which includes the giving of spiritual gifts to all believers for the purpose of building up the body of Christ; and we believe in the exercise of all of the biblical gifts of the Spirit.
(I Corinthians 12:7-11)
About the Bible
We believe that the bible is God’s word to His world.
(II Timothy 3:16)
We believe that it was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit and that it is without error in the original manuscripts.
(II Peter 1:20-21)
We believe that the bible is our final, absolute authority and that it provides the only infallible rule of faith and practice by which we live.
We believe that God created all human beings (male and female) in His image for relationship with Himself and also to govern the earth.
(Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6)
We believe that human beings have great potential for good, but that they are radically affected by an attitude of disobedience toward God called sin. This attitude is indeed what separates humanity from God.
(Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:23, 5:12-14)
We believe that human beings were created to exist forever and that they will do so either eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation.
About Salvation and Eternal Life
We believe that heaven and hell are places of eternal existence. Hell is eternal separation from God and heaven is eternal union with Him.
(Mark 16:19; John 14:2-3; I Peter 1:3-9; II Peter 3:8-13)
We believe that only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can humanity be saved from the penalty of sin.
We believe that eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into their life by faith.
(John 3:16; Romans 3:23)
We believe that salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. Therefore, it is God’s grace, not our works, that makes us secure in our salvation.
(Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 1:12)
About the Church
We believe in the one, holy, universal church.
We believe that everyone who repents of their sins and confesses Jesus Christ as their lord and savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and form the living body of Christ, of which He is the head and all are members.
(Romans 12:4-5; I Corinthians 12:27; I Peter 2:9-10)
About Church Sacraments
We believe that Jesus Christ committed 2 sacraments to the church: Water Baptism and Communion. Both are available to all believers.
(Matthew 28:19-20; I Corinthians 11:23-26)
